Moanalua Road was extended in response to rapid urbanization in Aiea during the late 60's. Situated above Pearlridge Center, it provides an alternative east-west route for the region. CP&E designed 4800 linear feet of 80-foot wide roadway between Kalauao Stream in Aiea and Pono Street in Waimalu under the City's Ordinance for Improvement Districts.
